THIS SEASON

Unexpectedly,
He makes me smile,
Makes me happy, even
Funny thing,
I never expected to find
What I was missing
In someone who was clearly lost
Himself,
And yet,
He came into my life
With the warmth of summer
And the unpredictability of spring,
And I needed him,
In ways I had forgotten,
In ways I tried not to remember,
Like never before,
Like never again,
This season…
