BOOK REVIEW

TEARS FOR WATER* BY SINGER ALICIA KEYS

Like many folks, I am a big fan of Alicia Keys.
Her musical talents have moved me to tears, smiles, nods of agreement, and even smooth moves on the dance floor.

So, I was really geeked to find her poetry book amid the many treasures uncovered at my local thrift store.

Here's the verdict...
I wasn't all that impressed.
In my opinion, she's a much better lyricist and singer than poet.

Although her candor and willingness to expose her raw emotions through the written word earned much respect, I had higher hopes.

For one thing, the poems were too long to create the effect that they had the potential of creating. Secondly, there was nothing unique or original in her style of expression.

The positives?

I loved some of the titles and the book has over 100 pages of verse.

Overall I would give it ** STARS.
