Poetry Review- A Tiny Drop* By Madeline Morgan

A Tiny Drop is a collection of positive, spiritual, inspirational pieces written by Chicago-based poet, Madeline Morgan.

Her work is insightful, timely and thought-provoking. Even folks who are not avid poetry fans would find a selection or two that would "speak" to them personally, as the book addresses many universal themes.

Between the pages you'll find poems that will make you laugh, nod, reflect and even say amen!
Morgan describes herself as a "poet, word nerd, speaker and author."

Also to her credit is her ability to "perform" her work with equal passion and engagement; as I have had the pleasure of seeing her recite at several open mic forums over the years.

My favorite poems in the book are "A Tiny Drop" and "If Money is Your Problem you Have no Problem."

This book is definitely worth a read! I give it **** 4 stars out of 5.

“Love”

 

What is love?

Is it the rapture

That elevates the soul

Like the emergence

Of a spring dawn?

And fill the heart

With a sensation

Like no other

It has ever known?

Can it be the blossoming

Of a summer’s rose?

Or the repetitive echoes

Of a newborn baby’s cry?

Perhaps it is the warmth

Of a mother’s hand

That wipes away the tears

From an infant’s eye

Who is wrought with pain

It can not explain.

Recent Fundraiser Well-Received and Well-Attended

Our recent event in conjunction with Brothers, N.F.P. was hot (figuratively and literally)! :-)Thankfully, the 90 degree temperature did not adversely affect attendance here.
The afternoon was a great gathering of creative artists, intellects, activists and community supporters.
A delicious meal opened the event off, consisting of a diverse menu including: fried chicken, spaghetti, string beans, potatoe salad and various desserts.

Our poetry reading was conducted for an hour, followed by a lively open-mic session.

The pictures below capture many of the event's highlights. Stay tuned for more potential collaborative projects with this organization in the future.

 

 

 

Poets United Headlines Event for After School Programs

Please join us for an exciting afternoon of Poetry 4 a Purpose!
We'll be providing entertainment, inspiration and information at a fundraising event, in conjunction with Brothers N.F.P. 

Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will assist this not-for-profit organization to raise much-needed funds for after school and mentoring programs for Black youth.
